Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, August 3) - After he was deemed ineligible to represent Duterte Youth Party-list last year, Ronald Cardema is back at the National Youth Commission (NYC) as a commissioner.

“Yes, but as NYC Commissioner not as NYC Chairman. And not as DILG Asec,” said Department of Interior and Local Government Spokesperson Jonathan Malaya in a text message to CNN Philippines.

This was contrary to an earlier social media post by Calamba Mayor Justin Marc Chipeco saying that Cardema was appointed as assistant secretary of NYC.

NYC is under the supervision of DILG.

The Commission on Elections First Division cancelled last year Cardema’s nomination as first nominee of Duterte Youth for “material misrepresentation” as he was already 34 years old that time.

The Party-list System Act provides a nominee of the youth sector must not be more than 30 years old.

Cardema resigned from his post as chairman to supposedly replace his wife as first nominee of the party-list.
