Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, January 11) - Interior Secretary Eduardo Año will take a leave until the end of January following the advice of doctors to rest and to further undergo tests, said Department of Interior and Local Government spokesperson Jonathan Malaya.

In a text message, Malaya said Año has not taken a single day of rest after he was hospitalized due to COVID-19 last August.

"Last week, Secretary Año underwent his regular medical check up as part of his post-COVID recovery plan," he said.

"As a COVID survivor, he has been advised by his doctors to slow down and take a break from stressful activities," added Malaya.

In the meantime, Usec. Bernardo Florece will serve as officer-in-charge of the DILG.
