Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, April 30) — Ifugao province will shift to the stricter modified enhanced community quarantine from May 1 to 14, Presidential spokesman Harry Roque announced on Friday.

The province will join Metro Manila, Bulacan, Rizal, Cavite, Laguna, Abra province, Quirino province, and Santiago City in the list of areas under MECQ for the first two weeks of May.

Ifugao has been under general community quarantine since April 1 but its local government submitted an appeal to be placed under stricter quarantine due to increasing COVID-19 cases, Roque said in a briefing.

Meanwhile, Puerto Princesa City will join other areas under GCQ for the whole month of May, Roque added.

Other areas under GCQ for May are Apayao, Baguio City, Benguet, Kalinga, Mountain Province, Cagayan, Isabela, Nueva Vizcaya, Batangas, Quezon, Tacloban City, Iligan City, Davao City, and Lanao del Sur.

The rest of the country will be under MGCQ -- the lowest level of quarantine classification.
