Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, July 23) — Rainy and windy weather will continue to prevail in a number of areas in Luzon due to two weather systems, the state weather bureau said Thursday.

The first, Typhoon Fabian, continues to slowly move northwestward near Miyako Islands, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said in its 11 p.m. bulletin.

Strong winds will be felt in Batanes and Babuyan Islands as they remain under Signal No. 1 due to Fabian.

Monsoon rains - the second weather disturbance - are also expected over Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Metro Manila, most of CALABARZON and Central Luzon, and portions of MIMAROPA. This is due to the southwest monsoon enhanced by Fabian, PAGASA said.

Fabian was last spotted 515 kilometers northeast of Itbayat, Batanes, maintaining maximum sustained winds of 150 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 185 kph.

Fabian is forecast to pass or hit land near Miyako, Yaeyama, and Senkaku Islands in southern Ryukyu in Japan Friday evening. It may exit the Philippine area of responsibility between late Friday evening and Saturday morning, PAGASA said. The typhoon is also expected to make landfall over the eastern portion of mainland China Sunday morning or afternoon.
