Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, September 24) — Manila Electric Co. (Meralco) will resume service disconnection activities in the National Capital Region next week amid the implementation of the new alert level system for COVID-19 response.

“Disconnection activities in NCR will resume with the delivery of disconnection notices for services with unpaid overdue bills next week. The disconnection notices give customers enough time to settle their bills or to reach out for assistance,” Meralco said on Thursday.

Meralco assured that service disconnection activities will remain suspended in areas under granular lockdown.

Metro Manila is under general community quarantine with Alert Level 4. Local chief executives are permitted to lockdown areas with high number of COVID-19 cases while allowing more businesses to operate.

There will be no service disconnection activities in the provinces of Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, Rizal, and Lucena City in Quezon until Sept. 30 as these areas are under the stricter modified enhanced community quarantine.

Meralco encourages customers to reach out if they need assistance. The firm said its personnel are always on standby.
