DepEd accepts online applications for senior high school voucher program

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, September 9) — The Department of Education (DepEd) is now accepting online applications for the Senior High School Voucher Program (SHS VP), which provides financial assistance to qualified students.

“Through the Department of Budget and Management (DBM), DepEd was able to secure additional funds for the continuity of the implementation of SHS VP as well as its other programs of Government Assistance and Subsidies,” Education Undersecretary for Finance Annalyn Sevilla said in a statement on Thursday.

SHS VP is an annual program of the DepEd, which gives subsidies in the form of vouchers to Grade 10 completers who wish to continue their education in private schools, state universities and colleges, and local universities and colleges.

Who can apply?

-Grade 10 completers in private schools in the school year (SY) 2020 to 2021 who are not grantees of the Educational Service Contracting, also a cash assistance program

-Grade 10 completers who finished Grade 10 prior to SY 2020 to 2021 but not earlier than 2016 and did not previously enroll in Grade 11

-Learners who passed the Alternative Learning System (ALS) Accreditation and Equivalency Test for Grade 10 not earlier than 2016 and had not previously enrolled in Grade 11 or ALS learners who passed the Presentation Portfolio Assessment

-Learners who passed the Philippine Educational Placement Test (PEPT) for Grade 10 not earlier than 2016 and had not previously enrolled in Grade 11 or will take the PEPT in SY 2021 to 2022

Incoming Grade 11 students this SY 2021 to 2022 can apply through the Online Voucher Application Portal (OVAP) until Sept. 23.

Applicants must create accounts on OVAP on or before Sept. 21. They can check the status of their online applications on Oct. 11. Qualified applicants could redeem their vouchers on the same day.
