Phivolcs: Minor ash eruption recorded at Mt. Bulusan
Metro Manila (CNN Philippines) — The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) announced that a minor ash eruption occurred at Mount Bulusan on Friday, July 17.
The eruption was recorded as an explosion-type earthquake that lasted for eleven minutes on seismic record.
The local government units and the public are reminded that entry to the 4-kilometer radius Permanent Danger Zone (PDZ) is strictly prohibited due to the possibility of sudden and hazardous steam-driven or phreatic eruptions.
According to Phivolcs, a short 200m-high gray ash plume that drifted West-Northwest was observed until the eruption ended at 1:21 p.m. today.
Alert level 1 remains in effect over Bulusan volcano.
