Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, January 1) — A tropical depression that hit the country last week has left at least 75 people dead and affected over 45,000 families, disaster risk reduction officials said on Tuesday.

The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) also said 16 are missing, and 12 were injured in Mimaropa, Bicol Region, and Eastern Visayas in the aftermath of Tropical Depression Usman. The agency said it is still verifying data from the regions.

'Usman' eventually weakened into a low pressure area after it hit land in Eastern Samar Saturday morning.

The Bicol Region suffered P242.13 million in agriculture damage.

At least 100 areas remain flooded and 41 roads and three bridges remain inaccessible .

Sorsogon, Camarines Norte, eight towns in Oriental Mindoro, Camarines Sur, and Albay are under a state of calamity. This would allow the fast release of relief funds, while price controls would be imposed on basic necessities and prime commodities.
