A sea turtle, believed to have eaten plastic, has died along the coast of Negros Occidental.

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, June 26) — A sea turtle has died along the coast of Negros Occidental.

According to barangay captain Bill Kratzer of Barangay Poblacion, Valladolid, Negros Occidental, residents found the dead turtle at around 3 p.m. Tuesday.

Residents reported that plastic waste was coming out of the turtle's rectum, leading them to suspect that plastics was the cause of its death. The turtle's tail was also damaged.

They buried the more than three-foot-long turtle on the same day, near the coast where it was found.
