Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, July 12) — The waiter who was punched by a neophyte lawmaker would not be pressing charges against him, his sister said.

Kitkat Alejo, sister of Christian Kent Alejo, told CNN Philippines that they have accepted Ang Probinsyano party-list Rep. Alfred delos Santos’ apology.

“We want peace of mind now,” Kitkat said Friday.

She said their family had gone through a lot due to what happened and would want to put an end to all media interviews. They also want social media users to stop accusing them of being paid off to settle the issue.

“Ni-piso ho wala po kaming nakuha. [We didn't receive even a peso,]” Kitkat said.

Her brother, Christian, has filed an indefinite leave of absence from work and was advised to rest.

In a statement issued Thursday, Delos Santos said he has reached out to Christian and his family, who "properly received me and accepted my apology."

His party-list, however, is not letting things slide just like that. Ang Probinsyano spokesperson Joco Sabio said they will conduct an impartial investigation.

Kitkat said it is up to Ang Probinsyano party-list whether to discipline him or not.

A police report on the incident that happened in Biggs Diner in Legazpi City, Albay said Delos Santos punched the 20-year-old Christian “without any apparent reason” early Monday morning.

Bicol-based journalist Rosas Olarte contributed to this report.
