Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, November 25) – Laoag City will be under the stricter modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ) starting Nov. 27, Ilocos Norte Gov. Matthew Marcos Manotoc announced on Wednesday.

"Based on the medical data and existing DOH (Department of Health) guidelines, a localized MECQ will commence in Laoag City on Nov. 27, 2020 until we contain the spike in cases," Manotoc said.

The order from the Ilocos Norte governor did not specify when the MECQ imposition in the province's capital will end.

As of 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Laoag City confirmed 85 COVID-19 cases where 48 are considered as active.

The Laoag City Health Office announced on the same day that 3,371 individuals have completed the mandated 14-day quarantine for those who had been exposed to the virus. Around 131 persons are still completing their quarantine.
