Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, May 1) — Sulu province is no longer COVID-19-free after reporting its first case on Friday.

Authorities said the 63-year-old male resident of Indanan town passed away on April 19 due to respiratory failure.

Two days before his death, he was admitted to the Sulu Sanitarium due to difficulty of breathing, the hospital management said. The patient had hypertension and has fever and dry cough for three days.

His swab test results were available on Thursday. He had no travel history or record of exposure to a COVID-19 patient, a provincial task force reported.

"The Sulu Task Force-CoViD19 is taking all necessary measures, based on protocols to contain the spread of the virus. We request the people of Sulu to remain calm and not to panic. Please continue to stay home,"said the group on its Facebook page.

Twenty-five other provinces have yet to report a COVID-19 case.
