Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, July 26)— A magnitude 5.5 earthquake struck Davao Oriental on Sunday morning, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said.

The quake, tectonic in origin, had a depth of 101 kilometers along Manay town. It hit the area at 11:12 a.m.

Intensity III was felt in Malungon town in Sarangani, while Intensity II was registered in the Alabel and Kiamba areas in the same province.

Intensity I, on the other hand, was felt in Koronadal City and Tupi in South Cotabato, as well as in General Santos City.

Phivolcs warned of aftershocks but said damage was not expected.
