Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, September 16) — Four people were killed after a Philippine Air Force chopper crashed in the province of Basilan on Wednesday, authorities said.

The casualties include two pilots and two crew members of the rescue helicopter, said Lt. Col. Aris Galang, spokesperson of the Air Force.

The police and military identified the crash site as a rubber plantation in Barangay Upper Manggas, Lantawan town. The chopper came from the Edwin Andrews Air Base in Zamboanga City and was bound for Jolo, Sulu for an emergency medical evacuation when it crashed at around 1:00 p.m.

The incident appears to have been caused by bad weather, authorities said, but investigation is ongoing.
