Two barangays in Matnog, Sorsogon under one-week lockdown

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, September 28) — Sorsogon Governor Chiz Escudero ordered a one-week lockdown of two barangay in the municipality of Matnog in a bid to curb the spread of COVID-19 in the area.

Escudero's executive order 63-2020 said the lockdown on Barangay Camcaman and Caloocan begins September 28.

Camcaman had four cases in the past two days, while a number of households in nearby Caloocan are "in contact with one another."

"[I]n light of these circumstances and in connection with the contact tracing efforts and upon consultation with the Mayor of the Municipality of Matnog and the Provincial and Municipal Health Officers, there is a need to limit the movement of persons in the said areas," read the EO.

Travel is restricted to essential acitivities.

The province of Sorsogon has 162 cases, including 26 active, while 129 have recovered and seven have died.
