Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, April 15) — A fire at the provincial capitol in Cagayan de Oro on Wednesday compromised at least 30 vials of Sinovac vaccine, the health chief of Misamis Oriental said.

"No one was hurt., there were 30 vials of sinovac, one dose/vial," Dr. Jerie Calingasan said in a text message when asked if there were people hurt and vaccines damaged in the fire.

A police report said the fire started around 6:40 p.m. at the kitchen of the motor pool of the Provincial Engineering Office and reached the third alarm before it was declared out at 8:54 p.m. Damage from the blaze was estimated at ₱1.4 million.

Several vehicles were also scorched, the report said.

Police said upon receiving the call about the fire, personnel were immediately dispatched and helped secure the provincial jail that houses 550 inmates.

Firefighters from the Bureau of Fire Protection and other volunteer fire brigades worked to battle the blaze.

There were no reports of injuries or casualties.
