Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, November 30) — It was a musical Saturday night in the country, as all eyes were on the 2019 Southeast Asian (SEA) Games opening ceremony in the Philippine Arena in Bulacan. But three songs stood out from the performances, those originally sung by late Filipino rapper icon Francis Magalona, famously known as Francis M.

Netizens were emotional while watching Magalona's son, Elmo, singing and dancing to his father's hits "Mga Kababayan Ko," "Man from Manila," and "Tayo'y Mga Pinoy," ten years after his passing.

Elmo performed alongside fellow singers Iñigo Pascual and KZ Tandingan.

Magalona passed away in March 2009 due to acute myelogenous leukemia. Fans also remember him for his song "Kaleidoscope World."

The games' opening kicked off the 12-day multi-sport event, which will culminate in a closing ceremony on December 11.
