(CNN Philippines, December 10) — Gilas Pilipinas Women made history after winning the country’s first gold medal in the 30th Southeast Asian Games.

The Philippines dominated Thailand in the final, 91-71, Tuesday at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.

Jack Animam led the attack for the Filipina cagers with 21 points, five rebounds, and two blocks.

Janine Pontejos chipped in 16 points, while Afril Bernardino added 10 points and 14 rebounds for the Gilas Women.

This is the Philippines’ first gold medal in women’s 5-on-5 basketball since joining the tournament in 1981.
