Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, December 5)—It’ raining medals for the judo team of the Philippines, and Shugen Nakano made sure his gold counted in their 2019 Southeast Asian (SEA) Games campaign.

Nakano overcame Budi Prasetiyo of Indonesia Thursday by scoring a late full-point, winning his way to a gold medal in the 66kg category.

On the other hand, his twin brother Keisei, shared the bronze with Singapore in the 75kg category.

Another Filipino judoka Gilbert Ramires, secured a silver in the men’s 81 kg.

Kiyomi Watanabe also defended her SEA Games title in the women’s 63kg, while Khrizzie Pabulayan and Furukawa Rena settled for bronze in the 52kg and 57kg, respectively.

A number of judokas in the Philippine team are of Japanese descent.
