(CNN Philippines, July 2) — Manny Pacquiao was stung by the hornet in Australia.

Australian boxer Jeff Horn shocked eight-division world boxing champion Manny Pacquiao to claim the WBO welterweight title at the Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane on Sunday.

Horn won via unanimous decision outpointing Pacquiao, 117-111, 115-113, 115-113.

The bigger yet less experienced Horn took the fight to Pacquiao from the opening bell.

The Filipino fighter was taken to a brawl with Horn pushing him against the ropes and landing some hard body shots.

Pacquiao also came out on the receiving end of a couple of accidental headbutts, which left him bleeding profusely from both sides of his head.

With Horn pressing the issue, Pacquiao finally found his rhythm in the ninth round, rocking Horn with hard shots that left his opponent's feet wobbly.

But Horn persisted in the tenth round and kept on battling the Filipino ring warrior. In the final round, Horn and Pacquiao refused to give an inch against each other up until the final bell.

The stadium erupted in cheers as Michael Buffer, veteran ring announcer, declared that the hometown hero Horn had defeated the favored Pacquiao.

The Australian boxer remained undefeated and improved his record to 17-0-0. While Pacquiao's record dropped to 59-7-2.
