Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, December 5) — La Salle basketball star Ricci Rivero is the "Most-Tweeted Filipino Athlete" this year, Twitter Philippines said Tuesday.

The second-year forward was instrumental in the finals series, putting them within striking distance of retaining their crown as the UAAP Season 80 men's seniors' basketball finals.

His team's performance fell short as the Ateneo Blue Eagles snatched the championship on Sunday in what was yet another epic game in the two schools' historic rivalry.

Coming in at second place as "Most Tweeted Filipino Athlete" was national volleyball team ace Alyssa Valdez, followed by boxing icon Manny Pacquiao.

Former Ateneo star athletes Gretchen Ho and Kiefer Ravena wound up in the fourth and fifth spots, respectively.

Volleyball player Mika Reyes garnered sixth place. Rivero's older brother Prince, along with other Green Archers' Brent Paraiso and Kib Montalbo grabbed the seventh to ninth rankings.

UAAP Finals Most Valuable Player Thirdy Ravena of the Ateneo Blue Eagles rounded up the top 10 list.

The popularity of local sporting events was also evident on the "Most Tweeted Sports Hashtags" which included #UAAPCDC2017, #OBF (one big fight), and #UAAPSeason80 in the top five.

The success of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) Season 80 men's seniors basketball finals also propelled it to the honor of "Most Tweeted Moments in the Philippines."
