UAAP: Ricci Rivero confirms transfer to UP Fighting Maroons

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, May 18) — Hello Diliman!

Ricci Rivero is taking his talents to University of the Philippines (UP) in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP).

One month after leaving La Salle, the high-leaping standout confirmed he will join the Fighting Maroons on his official Twitter account Friday.

Rivero averaged 14.1 points and 5.4 rebounds in Season 80 which translated to a Most Improved Player award and a Mythical Five selection.

The 6-foot-2 athletic guard last saw action with the Gilas cadets in the Filoil preseason tournament.

His addition will bolster the Fighting Maroons' roster which includes fellow national team pool members Juan Gómez de Liaño and Will Gozum, and big man Bright Akhuetie.

UP fans will have to wait as Rivero will undergo a one-year residency which means he will only be eligible to play in Season 82.
