Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, April 15) — The San Miguel Beermen earned a hard-fought 92-82 win over the Phoenix Pulse Fuel Masters in Game 2 of the PBA Philippine Cup semifinals Monday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.

Marcio Lassiter stepped up big time for the Beermen after dropping 24 points and seven rebounds, June Mar Fajardo added 19 points and 18 rebounds.

Emotions ran high when San Miguel's Christian Standhardinger was thrown out of the match after his foot hit Calvin Abueva's face at the 6:10 mark of the second period.

A collective effort from the defensive end enabled Phoenix to keep the Beermen at bay in the first half.

San Miguel's grit helped them slowly erase an 11-point deficit and tied the score at the end of the third period.

Terrence Romeo was instrumental in San Miguel's final frame charge. He chipped in 14 points, two rebounds and two assists.

In the end, the Beermen relied on their championship composure to seal the victory.

Abueva posted a double-double outing for the Fuel Masters with 16 markers and 10 boards.

Both teams will have a five-day Holy Week rest as Game 3 is slated on April 21 at the Big Dome.
