Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, June 15) — Jimmy Alapag will be part of the Sacramento Kings’ coaching staff for this year’s Summer League in Las Vegas, Nevada.

In an Instagram post Saturday, Alapag shared how grateful he is for the chance given by the Kings to hone his coaching skills.

“As a coach, it's important to continue to grow and learn. So thankful to Vlade Divac and the Sacramento Kings organization for the opportunity to join their Summer League staff in Vegas this year,” he said.

Both Alapag and Divac are members of the FIBA Players’ Commission.

The 41-year-old Filipino-American is the current head coach of Alab Pilipinas in the ASEAN Basketball League and assistant coach of the San Miguel Beermen in the Philippine Basketball Association.

Alapag said he is thrilled to represent the country on the international stage again.

“Looking forward to the entire experience! Always an honor to represent basketball!!!” he said.

The Kings have yet to announce their head coach in the Summer League.

The 2019 Summer League will run from July 5 to July 15. All 30 NBA teams plus the Chinese and Croatian national contingents will participate in this edition.
