Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, August 14)— The San Miguel Beermen are a step closer to the Commissioner’s Cup title.

The Beermen staged a late comeback to grab a 3-2 series lead against the TNT KaTropa, 99-94, in Game 5 of the 2019 PBA Commissioner’s Cup Finals on Wednesday at the Araneta Coliseum.

Chris McCullough and Terrence Romeo hit timely triples in the final frame to help the Beermen erase a 16-point deficit and gain the pivotal edge in the best-of-seven affair.

McCullough tallied a double-double of 35 points and 22 boards, while Romeo chipped in 22 markers coupled with 5 assists.

Junemar Fajardo registered 16 points and 11 rebounds for the Beermen, who struggled from beyond the arc early in the game.

Terrence Jones anchored TNT with 35 markers and 17 boards, while Jayson Castro added 18 points to go with 5 rebounds and 4 assists.

Troy Rosario, who missed the potential game-tying triple for TNT, finished with 16 points and 8 boards.

Game 6 is scheduled on Friday at the Big Dome.
