Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, April 9)— Former Philippines Sports Commission (PSC) commissioner and longtime tennis chief Salvador "Buddy" Andrada died on Wednesday, PSC confirmed. He was 83.

PSC, however, did not detail the cause of his death.

Known as one of the pillars of Philippine tennis, Andrada served as the president of the Philippine Tennis Association (Philta) for around two decades— from 1986 to 2005.

He had also served as head of the Asian Tennis Federation.

ATF also mourned the passing of Andrada, whom it described as a "great leader."
