Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, November 30) – Reigning ONE strawweight champion Joshua Pacio believes his close friend and Team Lakay teammate Danny Kingad won't have any ring rust in his upcoming fight.

"He never stopped training and actually, I believe that the time which was more than a year that Danny spent away from the cage even made him better because he put in the work," said Pacio.

He added everyone in the Benguet-based Team Lakay stable witnessed how Kingad improved in his game during the lull brought by the COVID-19 pandemic.

"He still has a lot to show for the fans. And when he has said that he has a gift for Kairat, he's really intent to show that because he still has a lot of weapons in his bag," Pacio added.

Kingad will return to the ONE Championship circle after a nearly two-year hiatus. He will face former ONE flyweight champion Kairat Akhmetov in the main event of ONE: WINTER WARRIORS II on Dec. 17 at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.

Kingad, known as "The King" in the Singapore-based mixed martial arts organization, last fought in January 2020 at ONE: FIRE & FURY where he scored a unanimous decision win over Chinese opponent Xie Wei.

The Baguio City native currently has a 13-2 win-loss record in his MMA career.
