Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, December 8) — The Philippines is one of the host countries for the FIVB Volleyball Nations League on June 2022, the Philippine National Volleyball Federation confirmed on Tuesday night.

According to FIVB VNL, the country will host the games for the Week 2 of the preliminary rounds for both the women’s and men’s tournaments.

From June 14 to 19, Pasay City will be the venue for the matches of USA, China, Japan, Russia, Belgium, Poland, Thailand, and Canada in the women’s division.

Meanwhile, Quezon City will hold the games for men’s tournament among Japan, France, Russia, Slovenia, Argentina, Italy, Germany, and Netherlands from June 21-26.

The host cities for the women’s and men’s finals have yet to be announced.

“The 2022 event returns under the new dynamic format announced in August that sees teams competing in pools of eight teams during the preliminary rounds,” according to the competition website.

The competition next year “will bring the fans closer to the court, both literally and figuratively, through an ecosystem of in-venue and broadcast elements.”

The 2021 edition was held last May to June at Rimin, Italy. There were no live audiences due to the ongoing pandemic.

Brazil and USA are the defending champions in the men’s and women’s volleyball, respectively.

Other host countries for next year’s VNL include Brazil, Canada, Bulgaria, Japan, Russia, USA, and Turkey.
