Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, February 1) – Filipino tennis sensation Alex Eala makes it to the top 1,000 list of the world's best female professional tennis players as she occupies the 942nd spot in the latest Women's Tennis Association rankings.

"It's a huge milestone for me. I worked so hard during the past few months, even when I went back home. I'm really happy with the results I got," Eala told CNN Philippines' The Final Word on Monday.

A big factor on Eala's jump in the world rankings is her maiden pro title at the first leg of the Rafa Nadal Academy International Tennis Federation ITF World Tennis Tour in Mallorca, Spain last January 24.

The 15-year-old Filipino tennis prodigy bagged her first professional title after a come-from-behind 5-7, 6-1, 6-2 win against hometown bet Yvonne Cavelle-Reimers in the women's singles final.

Eala joined the second leg of the tournament but fell short in the quarterfinals against Switzerland's Ylena In-Albon, 0-6, 3-6, last January 29.

The Filipino was ranked 1,180th in the world rankings prior to the release of the latest WTA list on Monday. She is also the third best female juniors' player in the world according to ITF.

"I tried to analyze my matches first, especially after a loss. It's important that after I calm down, I'm able to identify what I did wrong and right and things that I can improve, ultimately getting to the court back stronger," said Eala on her game mindset.

Eala, training at the Rafa Nadal Academy in Spain managed by the 20-time Grand Slam champion, will next compete in a tournament in France on February 9.
