Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, May 4) – San Miguel Beermen guard Chris Ross has finally earned his college degree from Marshall University.

Ross on Tuesday announced he officially graduated from the West Virginia-based university last May 1.

"I'm proud and giving myself a pat on the back for never giving up on myself and finally getting it done! I'm officially a college graduate!" Ross posted on his social media account.

The 6-foot-1 San Antonio, Texas native played for the Thundering Herd from 2005 to 2007, before he went to the Philippines and entered the Philippine Basketball Association in 2009.

Ross, now 36, said completing his degree was "a long time coming."

"I used quarantine as a time to better myself and finishing some things that I didn't get to finish when I was first presented with the situation," the eight-time PBA champion said.

In his 13-year PBA career, Ross blossomed into one of the league's defensive specialists where he won the Defensive Player of the Year plum twice and enlisted into the PBA All-Defensive six times. He also received the Most Improved Player award and was a Mythical Five team member, both in 2017.
