Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, June 29) — Filipina golfers Yuka Saso and Bianca Pagdanganan have officially secured spots in the Tokyo Olympics.

The International Golf Federation released on Tuesday night the official Olympic rankings for female golfers, where both Saso and Pagdanganan are in the Top 60.

The 19-year-old Saso, who recently won the US Women's Open championship, is the eighth best golfer in the world according to the rankings.

Fellow Asian Games gold medalist Pagdanganan occupies the 44th spot.

Saso and Pagdanganan join veteran Filipino golfer Juvic Pagunsan, whose Tokyo Olympics stint got formalized last week.

National Golf Association of the Philippines Secretary General Bones Floro emphasized the Olympic qualification of the three Filipino golf standouts will play a big role in the growth of the sport in the country, especially in honing the future of Philippine golf.

"Golf is not an easy sport to start. But when our countrymen of all generations see their fellow Filipinos representing all of us on the biggest stage in the planet, the chances of them taking the first steps to learn and play are much stronger," Floro told CNN Philippines.

The three golfers are part of the 17-person contingent for the Philippines in the Summer Games with pole vaulter EJ Obiena, gymnast Carlos Yulo, rower Cris Nievarez, taekwondo jin Kurt Barbosa, skateboarder Margielyn Didal, air rifle shooter Jayson Valdez, weightlifters Hidilyn Diaz and Elreen Ando, and boxers Eumir Marcial, Nesthy Petecio, Irish Magno, and Carlo Paalam.
