Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, July 19) – Chery Tiggo Crossovers now lead the 2021 PVL Open Conference standings while Sta. Lucia Lady Realtors notched its first win in the games played on Monday at the PCV Socio-Civic and Cultural Center in Bacarra, Ilocos Norte.

Chery Tiggo dominated Cignal, 25-16, 25-13, 25-19, to improve their record to 2-0.

The Crossovers easily handled the HD Spikers in the first two sets with a flurry of spike points.

Cignal attempted to get close to Chery Tiggo in the third set, trailing 7-9 after the first technical timeout. But a 15-1 scoring run initiated by Arianne Layug and Jaja Santiago propelled the Crossovers into a comfortable lead for the victory.

Layug and Santiago led Chery Tiggo to their second straight win with 15 points apiece. Janine Marciano was the lone bright spot for Cignal with 12 points as the HD Spikers started their 2021 PVL Open Conference campaign on the wrong foot.

Meanwhile, four Sta. Lucia players scored in double digits as they cruised to a 25-18, 25-15, 25-21 sweep of PLDT.

MJ Phillips led the Realtors with 14 points, while Dell Palomata added 12 markers. Mika Reyes bounced back from her three-point performance in their opening game loss against Creamline as she contributed 11 points, and veteran Aiza Maizo-Pontillas had 10.

Sta. Lucia controlled the first two sets due to the efficient team plays of the ladies coached by Eddieson Orcullo.

PLDT started to get its rhythm in the third frame as Isa Molde made timely kills and forced Sta. Lucia to commit errors down the stretch. The Power Hitters are now behind by a point, 21-22.

A Molde error and a couple of points from Phillips and Maizo-Pontillas finished the sweep for the Realtors.

Sta. Lucia now sports a 1-1 record while PLDT remains winless in two games.
