Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, July 22) - Brazilian coach and Olympic champion Jorge Edson Souza de Brito arrived in the country late Wednesday, the Philippine National Volleyball Federation said.

PNVF president Ramon Suzara said Souza de Brito will enter the training bubble on August 1 after completing his quarantine on July 31.

The Brazilian mentor will work with national women's team head coach Odjie Mamon for two years. He will help the women's volleyball team prepare for the Asian Women's Volleyball Championship in Clark, Pampanga on August 29.

Most of the national team players recently finished training in Ilocos Norte which started on July 1. The team will resume training for the tournament on July 23 in Batangas.

Souza de Brito was part of Brazil's men's volleyball team that won gold medal in the 1992 Barcelona Olympics. He later coached several top clubs in the Brazilian league from 2002 onwards.
