Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, September 11) – NorthPort Batang Pier dominated the Terrafirma Dyip, 104-84, to notch its second straight win in the 2021 PBA Philippine Cup on Saturday at the Don Honorio Ventura State University Gym in Bacolor, Pampanga.

Rookie Jamie Malonzo displayed his dunking prowess throughout the game - finishing with 14 points on 7 out of 11 shooting.

Garvo Lanete topscored for NorthPort with 18 points - shooting five of his eight field goal attempts. Robert Bolick backed him up with 15 points, six rebounds, and eight assists.

The Bonnie Tan-coached Batang Pier established their might against the Dyip in the first half with a ten-point lead after the first quarter - increasing it to 18 going into halftime.

NorthPort continued its offensive onslaught in the third canto, where the 6-foot-6 Malonzo performed his dunk show that left Terrafirma helpless on the floor.

The Batang Pier posted their biggest lead of the game in the final quarter at 26 points. With the win, the team improved its record to 3-3.

Tan lauded the squad's composure after star slotman Greg Slaughter was ejected from the game in the second quarter after being called for a flagrant foul 2 for an unintentional hit while defending Terrafirma player Roosevelt Adams.

"We never changed our system. We still have a game plan without Greg and I'm happy they responded. I told them to take all our games one at a time," said Tan, who dedicated the game to their coaching staff led by head coach Pido Jarencio who are recovering from COVID-19.

The Mikee Romero-owned team finished high on points from turnovers (24-11), fastbreak points (21-6), and bench points (55-39), led by topscorer Lanete.

Adams and Aldrech Ramos each chipped in 14 points for Terrafirma, which suffered its second straight loss after posting a 3-0 record since the league restart.

NorthPort will be back on court on Sunday to face the NLEX Road Warriors in the main game at 7 p.m.
