Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, January 14) – Teen Filipino race car driver Bianca Bustamante achieves another milestone in her budding career.

The 16-year-old racing wunderkind is set to drive a Formula 4 car in a test with F4 team Doran-Kroll Competition on Jan. 17-18 at the Buttonwillow Raceway in California.

British racing driver Richard Lyons will coach Bustamante in the two-day test.

The test with Doran-Kroll Competition is a preparation for Bustamante's biggest assignment yet - a chance to take a seat in the W Series, which is the all-women open-wheel support series to Formula One.

Bustamante is the only Asian among the 14 young drivers invited to take part in the 2022 W Series pre-season testing from Jan. 31 to Feb. 4 at the Inde Motorsports Ranch in Arizona.

"I wasn't expecting to have such a big opportunity like this so early in the year; competing in the W Series has always been a dream of mine," said Bustamante. "I'll do my best to demonstrate my ability and motivation to have a place in the series be it in 2022 or the future."

Bustamante made waves last year when she was the only Asian selected to participate in FIA Girls on Track Rising Stars Program, where she drove at the famed Circuit Paul Richard, the venue of the F1 French Grand Prix.

She is also a recipient of several local racing accolades such as the National Senior Karter of the Year and International Junior Karter of the Year awards.
