Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, September 7)— A couple of outside shots in the final quarter propelled the University of Santo Tomas (UST) Growling Tigers to their second consecutive victory in UAAP Season 82.

The Growling Tigers took down the University of the Philippines (UP) Fighting Maroons, 85-69, Saturday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Cameroonian center Soulemane Chabi Yo led the attack for UST with 18 points and 18 rebounds.

The Fighting Maroons kept the game close until the midway of the fourth quarter. But the Growling Tigers had an 11-2 blitz at the crucial stretch of the match to seal the win.

Bright Akuetie scored 19 points and grabbed 16 rebounds for UP. They fell to 1-1 in the team standings.

Mark Nonoy posted 16 points and five rebounds, while Renz Subido chipped in 13 points on fifty percent shooting for UST.

The Growling Tigers hope to maintain their unscathed record against the Ateneo Blue Eagles on September 11 at the Big Dome. Meanwhile, the Fighting Maroons will battle the Adamson Soaring Falcons on September 15 at the Mall of Asia Arena.
